Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer

Connie Stone, MSM, RN, CENP, is vice president of Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center. In her role she is responsible for directing the leadership of nursing care provided in both inpatient and outpatient areas, including the Operating Rooms, Emergency Department and Infusion Center. She also oversees non-nursing patient care departments, including Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary Services, Sleep Lab, Case Management and Social Work, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Nutritional Services.
Stone joined MedStar Montgomery Medical Center in January 2006, as director of Emergency Services. In July 2006, she was appointed to her current role.
Before joining MedStar Montgomery Medical Center, Stone worked with Cardinal Health and also Prince George’s Hospital Center, as director of Emergency and Trauma Services, and Occupational Health. She spent the first 24 years of her career at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg, West Virginia, where she started as a registered nurse graduate to become director of Special Care.
Her professional achievements include co-chairing MedStar Health’s Culture of Safety Committee and the Disruptive and Intimidating Behavior workgroup sponsored by the Maryland Hospital Association. She has served on the board of Proyecto Salud Clinic and was an officer of the Maryland Emergency Nurses Association. She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the Maryland Organization of Nurse Executives and the Emergency Nurses Association.
Stone received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Salem-Teiko College, Salem, WV, and a Master of Science in Management from West Virginia Graduate College (now part of Marshall University). She has also received certification in executive nursing practice.
